I’m actually pretty excited about this post. 

I’ve always been fascinated with night photography. 

It requires long exposures.  Something that I absolutely LOVE. 

Long exposure photography requires patience. 

I couldn’t really figure light painting out to actually look decent.  It’s something that I still want to practice some more to get it right, but I do have to say that this was the best that I have done so far.

The image I took today is specifically called Steel Wool Photography.  I bought some steel wool from the store (the same thing that is used for Brillo pads in case you wanted something to connect).  Put it in a whisk, and set it on fire.  It sparked and I had my dad spin the whisk around with a cord.  It was funny because my dad came home and asked us what we wanted to do tonight, so I showed him the idea and to my surprise he was cool with it.  He told me that when he was a kid, they used to light them on fire to substitute for fireworks.

We kind of had to rush because it was raining off and on and we wanted to catch it before it started raining again.  But this is how it turned out.

I want to perfect this and try it again when it isn’t raining and I’ll have more time.
