I view engagement sessions like a date. You can dress nice, spend some time laughing and reminiscing about your relationship with each other. But one of the important parts of your engagement session is figuring out where you want to do it. There are so many Richmond engagement locations that I love to recommend to my couples. This is why I wanted to share 8 gorgeous locations here in Richmond.
Browns Island
Brown’s Island is definitely on my list of favorites in the Richmond area. It makes up a lot of space and it is close to Belle Isle. I like to think that combining with either trail near the Oregon Hill Overlook or Belle Isle makes for a complete combination to the area. But Brown’s Island is also so large that you really can hit that area by itself. I really do love being able to recommend this place to my couples, especially with it being right by the James River.
Maymont Park
Maymont Park is probably my favorite location in the entire area and it is for sure a popular place to visit, especially when the weather is nice. It is pretty much the best of all the worlds in my book. I love how Maymont showcases amazing architecture, beautiful gardens, and an amazing waterfall. I can easily can 3 different couples here and not run into repetition. Keeping things fresh makes all the difference and each couple can have their own unique experience here.
Libby Hill Overlook
Libby Hill makes for a great place to have the city skyline as a backdrop. It makes a great first stop if you’re wanting to go through two locations throughout your session. It’s always a great experience and new when I come here with any couple.
Chimborazo Park
Chimborazo Park is what I kind of feel is a little hidden gem. It’s not “really” hidden, but it is definitely not as popular as some of the other locations in the area. Coming here in the spring during Cherry Blossom season is an absolute MUST.
Midlothian Mines Park is about 25 minutes from downtown Richmond and it is built around a lake close to Midlothian Turnpike. I find it an amazing place for any time of the year and there is definitely a lot that you can do here.
Carytown
Carytown is a small district in Richmond that is full of shopping, dining and entertainment. I definitely think it makes a good place to end your engagement session so you can go out to dinner with your sweetheart. Carytown brings such a lovely artistic aesthetic. I like to start at the Byrd Theater and making our way around the area.
Byrd Park
I don’t get the opportunity to come to Byrd park as often as some of the others, but it is the BEST place for sunrise engagement sessions in my opinion. The park is close to Maymont and multiple ponds are centered around the area. One of the largest lakes has a fountain that makes for the PERFECT backdrop.
Belle Isle
Belle Isle and Brown’s Island is connected by the Belle Isle Suspension Bridge. I love hitting the Bridge every time I come to Brown’s Island, but I do love taking the opportunity to cross over to Belle Isle. You’re able to get so much closer to the James River and take advantage of the rocks too.
I don’t even think I scratched the surface on the amazing Richmond engagement locations that you have to choose from! There is definitely a lot to offer. Get more information about the JCP Wedding Experience!
