I really wanted to take the time to make a list of some of my favorite Richmond wedding venues. One of the things that I love about Richmond is the diversity of the city and the ability to find just about anything that fits your style. I’ve lived in Richmond pretty much all of my life and I have always loved what it has had to offer. I loved it even more so when I began doing wedding photography. Richmond is perfectly positioned within 2 hours of Virginia Beach and Washington DC as well as an hour to Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is never a shortage of things to do and places to see, so getting married here makes the perfect decision.
Here are some of my favorite wedding venues in Richmond!
The Jefferson Hotel
I love the Jefferson Hotel. It maintains such a beautiful historic and elegant look. It pairs well with a traditional style and I absolutely LOVE their grand staircase. They have several luxurious ceremony and reception spaces that can hold a various number of guests. I absolutely love the chandeliers that they have in their space and a large gathering area for cocktail hour. One great feature that I love about the Jefferson is that they provide great catering service and with a menu designed to fit your wedding style in the best way possible.
Bolling Haxall House
The Bolling Haxall House was built in 1858 and was preserved in the 1990s. With it being a Virginia Historic Landmark, you can definitely take advantage of seeing a lot of history throughout the home. The stairs at this venue is absolutely stunning and it makes for a great space for bridal portraits. The venue also provides a gorgeous bridal suite as well as a space for the groom to get ready. I really enjoyed working with the staff. Catering is also provided on site.
See our blog from this last fall from Chris and Becca’s wedding there!
Oakdale
I really enjoyed working with Oakdale when I captured their wedding. The venue has a nice elegant barn look that is also timeless. Oakdale provides a beautiful bridal suite for the bride to get ready. This venue can accommodate approximately 200 guests with multiple places for you to hold your ceremony. They provide an on-site venue coordinator, so I really enjoyed working with their staff.
John Marshall Ballrooms
The John Marshall Hotel is considered the largest hotel in the entire state of Virginia. It is stunning! The venue provides a lovely space for you to hold your ceremony and reception. The bar area also makes a great space for cocktail hour. Catering is provided on site, which I find absolutely worth it. They provide a decent size space for both the bride and groom to get ready before the wedding. Something I love about the John Marshall is that it is located in Downtown Richmond and positioned to easily get through much of the area.
Historic Mankin Mansion
The Historic Mankin Mansion provides multiple spaces for you to utilize for your wedding. Their ceremony space is held in a beautiful garden next to a separate lawn and brick patio for cocktail hour. The Italian lighting is stunning once night falls! Their reception space is held under a lovely tent that is climate controlled so you can have your wedding during any time of the year. Something that I did love about this venue is that it comes with a planning team. This is definitely useful, especially on the day of your wedding.
Hanover Tavern
I love the historic structure of Hanover Tavern. Like the Bolling Haxall, it is an 18th Century Virginia Historic Landmark. The bridal suite is provided for the bride and is positioned at the top of the main building. Space is also provided for the groom to get ready. They provide multiple ceremony spaces including one that is positioned in the back lawn with the Coach House as a modern-barn style reception space. One benefit to utilizing Hanover Tavern is that they provide their own catering as well as a coordinator for your wedding day.
There is definitely a lot of Richmond wedding venues to choose from and you can’t go wrong with any of them! I would love to be able to answer any questions that you have about these venues!
