When I met Candice and Mark at Swannanoa Palace for our engagement session, I knew immediately I’d be in for a treat. Capturing such a gorgeous couple in these stunning mountains is every photographer’s dream. Swannanoa Palace is a twentieth century Italianate marble villa and is striking to say the least. It was made by the same person that built Maymont Park, so it is safe to say that I may have quite a bit of bias here 😉 The Swannanoa grounds provided such a perfect setting for Candice and Mark’s engagement session.
As the dappled, early evening light shone through the early fall trees, Candice, Mark and I made the most of the wonderful stone architecture to capture some lovely moments between the two of them. The detail throughout the stonework was a gorgeous contrast to the beautiful lawn and landscaping and we made sure to thoroughly explore. From holding each other on the staircase, sharing a kiss on the terrace, and taking a moment to look into each other’s eyes under the wonderful pillared archway, Candice and Mark looked perfect in stunning Swannanoa.
Their style matched the setting perfectly and you can only imagine how gorgeous they’ll both look on their big day. Mark dressed in a classic white shirt and navy suit, which was paired perfectly with Candice’s elegant off-the-shoulder burgundy dress.
An outfit change showed them both looking equally as great in another classic look from Mark, matched with a beautiful long-sleeved emerald dress on Candice.
The pair became engaged during a vacation in Florida and the romance between them both is very clear to see. Throughout our entire session Mark showed so much love and care towards Candice – always making sure she was comfortable and happy. He is a man that is very clearly in love with his wife to be, prioritizing her wellbeing throughout such a special time in their lives. Their wedding will be next September at the Chrysler Museum, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to be their wedding photographer!
